The HLAA recently invited hundreds of people with hearing loss to participate in a Hearing Aid Compatible (HAC) survey. Thinking of getting a Cochlear Implant?

Technology have made the world more accessible for people with hearing loss.  We are truly blessed to be living in a time where there are many options in hearing devices to choose from. Through the dynamic nature of the internet we are able to communicate  with friends and families , from near and far. We have become more independent through the help of many organizations. We have more options in hearing devices to choose from, and more book and  videotapes  on the subject of hearing loss.  It is said that  90 percent of children with hearing loss, are born to hearing parents . Choosing a hearing aid, Cochlear Implants,  or any other hearing devices is a tough decision for any of these parents. The  Cochlear Implant  have became one of the choices for many hearing parents with a child who is deaf. An interesting book  on the benefits of Cochlear Implant  is Listening Closely: A journey to Bilateral Hearing. It's a very inspiring book, and I was happy to have met the Author in person and to read both of her books. The author Arlene Romoff, is president of the Hearing Loss Association-NJ Chapter. She  has written two books on the subject of Cochlear Implant.  Her first book  Hear Again:  Back to Life With a Cochlear Implant,  is a very inspiring story of hope and courage, and relates  to her experience of living in silence for years, before regaining  communication with the "hearing" world. After getting her first CI.  Arlene  received her first Cochlear Implant in 1997, and became a bilateral CI user in 2008. By using her experience to help others understand all they need to know about CI, Arlene, have done a wonderful service for people with hearing loss. Her book will inspire others and help them to understand  the journey that they must take with a CI.  Arlene  books is available at all booksellers . She can be reached at:  www.arleneromoff.com
